    Theory of EFT



    The basic premise of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system. By correcting the disturbance on an energetic level, we simultaneously correct it on the emotional level.

    EFT is a doorway to a refreshingly new approach. In essence, it is a psychological version of acupuncture except that needles aren't necessary. Instead, clients “tune in” to their emotional issue while stimulating stress relief points by tapping on them with their fingertips. This provides a meridian “balancing effect” that replaces emotional distress with a form of peace. It's a relatively new discovery that allows rapid freedom from the emotional intensity of trauma, anger, fears, phobias, depression, anxiety, stress and other emotional issues.

    Many issues which previously may have taken months or years of work with traditional approaches, can be worked through rapidly and effectively. Emotional pain resulting from rape, mental disasters, childhood memories, accidents and war are often eliminated in one session. The process is not perfect, yet it often works where everything else has failed and is part of the multi-modal approach at New York Awareness Center.

    EFT Effectiveness Has Been Proven:



    EFT has been proven clinically effective in the Veterans Administration with many of our Vietnam War Veterans. It has also assisted students with “learning blocks” and has provided noticeable gains in many performance areas (such as golf, sports, music and public speaking). In meditation, EFT enables you to “go deeper”. More and more mental health professionals are reporting dramatic improvements in their clients’ well being.

    Like all other therapeutic models, EFT does not solve everything for everyone. EFT is still in an experimental stage; however, the clinical results over the last 5 years have been remarkable. The theory of EFT is that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system. By correcting the disturbance on an energetic level, we simultaneously correct it on the emotional level.

    EFT is a therapeutic approach to discharging excess emotional distress and liberating one's capacity for growth and joy. It is a process that has its roots in both ancient Chinese medicine and the modern science of Applied Kinesiology. These techniques are gentle, rapid and startlingly effective. Life long phobias, compulsive behaviors and limiting belief patterns can be easily eliminated. In fact, it is not unusual to see new or old emotional pain released in less than half an hour!

    EFT Process:



    The EFT process is simple: While holding a problem in mind and feeling the feelings associated with that problem (tuning in to it), you tap with your fingers on specific acupuncture points (Your therapist will show you those points. It is important to get those correctly.). This opens the meridians and balances your energy.

    EFT, used in conjunction with hypnotherapy is an extremely successful technique. The tapping process can be used with clients who are in hypnosis. Once the emotional charge is released, they are asked to imagine themselves in the future 'free' of this emotional intensity. They often see themselves behaving in completely new, emotionally healthy ways. Because the subconscious mind does not differentiate between visualization and reality, the emotional freedom they've imagined can become the natural way of being for this person.
